| Marble is presently quarried in
two places in Val d'Ossola, while in the past, it was also quarried
in Val Strona. From a petrographic standpoint, this marble is
re-crystallized calcareous-dolomitic sedimentary rock originating
from regional metamorphic event. Materials produced in the two
principal, industrially significant, quarrying domains are of
different geo-structures.
Crevoladossola marble with its varieties, Palissandro
Classico, Palissandro Oniciato, Palissandro Bluette and Crevola
Nuvolato, that are particularly valued in the design industry
where it finds excellent applications for tables, sills, interior
design, as well as for religious art.
Pink Marble of Candoglia: it is currently and exclusively
quarried for restoration efforts of the Duomo of Milan.
Valtoce Pink with a variation in colour from intense
pink to white with blue-grey stripes.
Boden Grey with a light blue-grey colouring lined with small
veins.
